Sheep & Goat Equipment Dubbo
Dubbo Sheep & Goat Equipment
Sheep and goats don’t behave like cattle - and that’s exactly why Ballimore Welding in Dubbo builds equipment specifically for smaller livestock. Our sheep and goat equipment is designed for easier handling, better animal flow and safer, more productive farm work.
Made for Small Stock
Our designs account for the unique movement patterns and sizes of sheep and goats. With lower rails, tighter spacing and smooth-flow drafting, you’ll notice the difference in efficiency and animal control straight away.
Portable & Practical Options
We offer mobile sheep yards and modular setups that are quick to assemble and easy to move. They’re ideal for rotational grazing, off-site mustering or growing operations with changing stock numbers.
Built for Daily Use
Our sheep and goat gear is made from the same high-quality Australian steel as our cattle equipment. It’s strong, rust-resistant and built to hold up in even the toughest working conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between sheep and cattle yards?
Sheep yards are designed specifically for smaller, more agile animals. They typically have lower panels (around 1050mm high), tighter rail spacing, and narrower races to prevent sheep or goats from slipping through or jumping out. Cattle yards, by contrast, are built taller and with wider spacing to suit larger, heavier animals. The way sheep move - often in tight groups and with more hesitation at corners - means the design of sheep equipment must guide stock flow in a controlled, low-stress way. Using cattle gear for sheep can increase handling time, risk of injury, and general frustration during mustering or drafting.
Can goat yards be used for sheep too?
The right cattle crush depends on how often you work your cattle, your handling needs and your herd size. Manual head bails are common for small herds and basic vet work, while hydraulic or semi-automatic crushes offer greater control and reduce labour, especially in larger operations. Important features include anti-backing bars, side access doors and adjustable floors for better safety and flexibility. A good crush should allow you to inspect, treat, tag or weigh cattle efficiently while reducing stress on both animals and handlers. It’s also worth checking compatibility with existing yards or panels to avoid expensive retrofitting.
How portable are modular sheep yards?
Modular sheep yards are designed to be highly portable. They typically come in individual panels that connect via pins or clamps, making them easy to set up, take down and transport as needed. This is ideal for rotational grazing, temporary yards during lambing, or small-scale operations that don’t require a permanent setup. Some systems include fold-up panels, slide-in ramps, and integrated gates to further reduce setup time. If you’re working across multiple paddocks or lease blocks, modular systems save a lot of time and let you adapt the layout to the land on the day.
